New owner for Angel Smiling

Congratulations to Tylor Nowell on the purchase of  Angel Smiling, the talented Warmblood mare from fellow Chestnut Hill rider Grace Lukach, who heads off to college this fall.   We are delighted this amazing horse has stayed in the barn.  Look for this new pair in the age group equitation division, as well as the 3′ and 3’3 medal classes.  Good luck Tylor!

New Horse: Finding Nemo

Congratulations to Gwen McLaughlin on the purchase of this lovely ten-year-old dappled grey Warmblood gelding – “Finding Nemo.”  Look for Gwen and Nemo in the 3′ and 3’3 equitation and medal rings this year.  A big thank you to Cara Anthony and Potcreek Meadlow in Washington state for this lovely horse.

John Wohr, New Assistant Trainer

Chestnut Hill welcomed a new assistant trainer, John Wohr, who joined the successful program today. An accomplished and highly respected equestrian, John brings 25+ years of experience in all aspects of the sport, a passion for the jumpers, and an ongoing love  of riding and  teaching. He grew up riding in in South New Jersey, John started riding at the age of ten and was active in 4-H as a youngster.  As a junior, he competed in the big Medal Finals in Harrisburg, Madison Square Garden and the USET Talent Search.

After turning professional, John learned from and worked for exceptional horse people, including such legendary names as George Morris, Jeff Cook, Frank Madden, Linda Hough and Richard Spooner.  John thoroughly enjoys working with people and lives by the saying, “do what you love, and love what you do.”

Lakeview Minuet is a lovely, 14 year-old, 13.2 hand medium pony mare that has been sadly outgrown.  “Cookie” is an ideal first medium pony and is safe, sound, a good mover and jumper.  She most recently scored and “83” at the West Coast Pony finals and is suitable for the Short Stirrup, Children’s Pony and Medium divisions.
